Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful
-William Morris
I am a self-confessed hoarder. I love the ‘thingyness’ of everyday life, the objects that sweep through our rooms punctuating our existence. Like all magpies my eyes are drawn to details here, there and everywhere. Finding beauty in the everyday has influenced my collection of objects for you and your home.
After devotedly working on my craft during my Graphic Arts and Design degree, I am now permanently based at my studio in Nottingham, selling my own designs. I am open to freelance illustration and textile design as well as one off commissions.
Design Process:
Built around heritage and the quintessentially English, each item is endorsed with the traditional ‘Made in England’ tag we’re returning to after so long. Paper stencils, taken from my hand drawn illustrations, are used to gauge the size and shape of each design prior to printing. My work rarely touches a computer and is literally ‘home-grown’ using locally-sourced, environmentally-friendly inks and natural fibres such as cotton or linen.
My designs are clean & crisp line drawings that interweave through fixtures and fittings, creating a narrative from room to room. They follow a journey from eye to hand, hand to stencil, stencil to fabric and fabric to home offering a charming and timeless item. In turning my illustrations into cloth, I combine my passions for drawing and textiles to the highest of quality. I hope this love follows the buyer home, so that they can turn an otherwise mundane object into a subtle enhancement.
Mission Statement
I offer a bespoke service for every customer. In times of austerity people crave items that comfort and sustain, ‘things’ that endure and brighten up the days. People want to discover a product with a background, a one-off piece that no-one else owns.
We live in a throw-away society where things are designed to be disposable but I hope to change that one design at a time…
